Manual Settings!

I finally figured out how to take a picture in manual without it being just a white picture. I am so proud of myself!!

Portait day at Swannonoa Palace in Afton, VA

This place is very cool, Swannonoa Palace. We went on a tour last weekend and while there I got some wonderful pictures of my girls.

At this point I am still shooting in Full Auto, haven't figured out Manual yet. These were edited in Lightroom applying the Aged Photo setting.

Enjoy!

More pictures with the 50mm f/1.8 lens

Here are some more. Are we seeing any improvement? At this point still shooting in full auto.

This is my oldest daughter, Cameron, playing the piano. It was edited in Lightroom using an antique B&W setting only.

New lens!

Got a new lens! WOOT WOOT!!!
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 2 I honestly don't even really know what any of those numbers mean but I like this lens...and I am starting to learn what the specs mean.

Here are some of the first few pics I took with it.

Some Fall pictures

Here are a few pictures of my youngest child, Zoe. We went to the park one day to ride bikes and play in the leaves.
I only used full auto on these pictures with the standard lens that came with my canon (can't think of the specs right now). I did some basic editing in Picasa.

She's cute huh?

Intro

Hi! My name is Wendy. I am a former teacher turned stay at home mom inspiring to one day start a photography business. I am just learning how to take great pictures. I have two beautiful daughters who are my typical subjects. I am looking for others to be guinea pigs in my little journey.
I'm going to post some of my pictures here. Keep it mind I literally just started using a DSLR a few months ago, and just within the last month actually started "using" my DSLR. Up until then I was strictly point and shoot and hope I don't cut off someone's head.
